Daily Prayers for Married Couples

Prayer of Repentance
O God, remit, pardon and forgive our sins whether voluntary or involuntary, whether by word or deed, whether committed in knowledge or in ignorance, whether by day or night and whether of reason or imagination; Forgive us all these, for You are Good and love mankind.

Traditional Prayer for a Married Couple
O Lord, listen to my humble prayer, that I may ever feel that the married state is holy and that I must keep it holy. Grant Your grace that I may never sin against the faithfulness and love of this marriage. Foster between us the spirit of peace and understanding, that no sorrow or confusion may arise between us. Grant us health and our daily bread, whereby we may serve You more. Amen.

Another Prayer for a Married Couple
O Lord our God, One in the Holy Trinity, Who taught us to love one another so that we might be one as You are One: look down with compassion on our married life. Grant us health, strength, and wisdom so that we may be able to fulfill our duties with patience and joy. Give us the strength to conquer all temptations that come upon us. Strengthen us in true faith, strong hope, and perfect love, so that we may live well together and continually grow in harmony and perfection through You. For You are the One who told us that where two are gathered in Your name You are with them and will fulfill their requests: we are gathered and united in Your name through this Holy Marriage so we request that You bless our union and all the good deeds that pour from it. We ask this as we glorify You; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and ever and to the ages of ages. Amen.

A Meditation on Love from St. Paul (1 Corinthians 13)
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient and kind;
Love is not jealous or boastful;
It is not arrogant or rude.
Love does not insist on its own way;
It is not irritable or resentful;
It does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right.
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never ends; as for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. For our knowledge is imperfect and our prophecy is imperfect; but when the perfect comes, the imperfect will pass away. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; when I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall understand fully, even as I have been fully understood. So faith, hope, love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
